The Owyhee Canyonlands, a sparsely populated high desert located in southwestern Idaho, northern Nevada, and eastern Oregon, is one of the most remote areas in the lower forty-eight. This rugged 6 million acre landscape includes sagebrush steppe, volcanic plateaus of volcanic rock, juniper covered mountains and steep canyons. Most is is public land administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
