Christa McAuliffe submitted this video interview in 1985 as part of her semifinalist application to be the first teacher in space. All semifinalists answered the same questions. She described why she wanted to go into space, and what she would do if selected. McAuliffe became the first teacher in space in July, 1985. She died in the space shuttle Challenger explosion on January 28, 1986.
