Marcia Franklin talks with Doug Dirks of Ten Thousand Villages, a nonprofit fair trade retailer, about fair trade issues, including the definition of the term, how to know if you’re buying a fair trade item, how the money is used and criticisms of fair trade. The two also discuss recent changes in fair trade certification. Since the interview, Dirks has become the CEO of Ten Thousand Villages.
